Anyway.....
I feel like I need to post some music up since that's a big aspect of my life and this blog and I feel like I haven't promoted more of it.
These days I have so much music to go through it's not even funny. But I've been listening to popular and underground music alike and I've already started compiling my new playlist of favs. Here's a couple I'll share! [In case you don't know already, my music taste is VERY VERY eclectic. I listen to a wide variety of genre's so expect to find anything and everything in this list. :P ]

Music Post: [Kpop] MISS A
Quick update I wanted to make about a new album I've been listening to recently.
When it comes to Kpop these days, I just don't really get it. Nothing really sounds intuitive or that great. Back in the 90's I think the reason Kpop was so great was that instead of trying to sound like American music, there was a lot of incorporation of different styles and genres that were popular not only in America but Europe. And everything had an Asian twist. Nowadays Kpop just sounds like it's trying too hard to sound like Lady Gaga or Katy Perry. If I wanted to listen to those artists, I'd listen to them! Ya know?? Regardless, there have been a few artists that I really like. For instance, I LOVE 2NE1. I just think more than their music though, they carry on a very unique character and vibe. The next group on my list is called Miss A. They are part of JYP Entertainment (Wonder Girls, Rain, 2PM etc..) and the group consists of two Korean girls and two Chinese girls. Let me just say this. These girls can sing and these girls must be working with a great producer because their music is actually pretty good.
This is their newest single, "Goodbye Baby"
This is actually my favorite track on the album "Help Me". I think I like it because it kinda has a very nostalgic sound in some ways. Reminds me of a 90's R&B Kpop track.
I don't think they are spectacular or anything, but compared to the typical catchy Kpop that you hear these days, I think they're actually pretty talented. I mean, no offense to groups like Girl's Generation or F(X) or 4Minute or whoever.....sometimes catchy music and cute faces get old pretty quick. I think it's too general. Miss A isn't a particular pretty group of girls either but as I said, they can sing and I think their album was very well produced.
I have to commend JYP for making good girl groups at least. I was never a fan of SM Entertainment's girls group. They typically are just all looks and little talent. I really liked Wonder Girls from JYP. It's too bad they died off though.

AZIATIX
Far East Movement came out into the US music market and proved that even Asians can go viral on the American charts.
Now meet AZIATIX. They're a three man rapping/singing sensation chalk full of talent, ready to make it big.
Hip hop, R&B, & KPOP mashed into one sound, these guys really go hard in trying to create the perfect compilation album of catchy tunes and likable lyrics. With sounds that influence from American R&B/Hip Hop artists like Bow Wow, Ne-Yo, and Chris brown, Aziatix is coming on hard to represent R&B for the Asian community in America. "Go" is the newest of their released singles and has a good blend of catchy lyrics and soothing beats. There's a good chance that with excellent marketing and lots of word of mouth, these guys will go big in the U.S. But regardless of race, Aziatix's "Go" gets an A+ rating from my ears. At the end of the day, it's not really about who's representing what culture or even "Asian pride". It's all about the music.

2NE1 - 내가 제일 잘 나가 (I am the best)

I'm a huge fan of 2NE1. So when I heard their newest track "I Am The Best" I was anticipating it. And to my surprise, I actually REALLY dig this track lol.
I say "surprise" because for some reason, I tend to NOT like their tracks when I first hear them. It usually takes a little while for the song to grow on me. This one is definitely a little edgy and I dig it.

Inspirational Hip Hop
I've always been into hip hop since I grew up with mostly R&B music as a kid and hip hop is always associated with R&B in some ways. But I always geared more towards underground hip hop as opposed to mainstream. Of course, the occasional Jay-Z, Eminem, and Drake songs blast through my speakers every now and again, but majority of my hip hop tracks are underground or indie. I think there's something a little more special about the sounds of underground hip hop. There's something more inspirational about these artists since they speak through their hearts and not through their paychecks. Feel me? :P
I'll be posting a lot of underground hip hop on here, no doubt about it, but I hope those who don't usually listen to hip hop will give these tracks a chance because I think the lyrics a lot more relatable and the beats are mellow as opposed to harsh and catchy. Not that there's anything wrong with that either, just a preference though.
My favorite sub-genre of hip hop is hands down, Jazzy Hip-Hop. What got me into that in the first place was through the discovery of NUJABES, born Jun Seba. I'm sure most people know who that is, but in case you don't, he's a Japanese DJ that produced really mellow, turntable beats and started a trend in turntable-ism dubbed "Metaphorical music". Most notably, his music is featured on the anime SAMURAI CHAMPLOO. He's actually made a big impact on my life through his music and he passed away last February in a car accident. To this day, I wish I could meet the guy and thank him for inspiring so many people with his inspirational tunes, mellow melodies, and vibrant beats.
Anyway, that's my little hip hop intro lol. So just to reiterate in plain text, I'm not exactly a "Tupac" kind of hip hop fan, although I do listen to even him sometimes. I'm more into the underground hip hop or old school hip hop like Souls Of Mischief or new age underground like Kero One and the PlugLabel artists. I also really love artists like Nujabes because I love that he produces Instrumental tracks, as he is not a rapper. But when he does get uhp artists to feat on tracks, they are very inspirational and peaceful to listen to. I think the one thing that draws me to this type of hip hop is the beat incorporated with an instrument melody, like violin or piano. In any case, I'm pretty picky but I'd like to think I have a pretty good collection of nice hip hop tracks.

Thanks to Eileen for pointing this out, but it seems that the artist Trey Songz has used the sample from Aether's Variance in this track! How weird! Well, not really, but I always find it funny when I hear instrumental tracks I find being used by known artists. Must mean they have good tastes too then right? Haha but yeah, thanks for the music look out! Always cool to recognize this kind of thing. :) Keen with the sounds.
